“We chose Capgemini because of their supply chain expertise, ability to accelerate decisions and solution delivery, and our longstanding relationship. Working with Capgemini is a highly collaborative experience, one that is truly unique in the industry.”

Vice President, Supply Chain Integrated Solutions

The Situation

This global solution provider’s huge product scope has created one of the largest and most diverse supply chains in the world. The company’s current supply chain portfolio of programs was developed as a result of “adopt and go” strategies pursued as a result of a recent merger.

This portfolio needed to be refined as its markets have changed and greater opportunities for increased leverage have emerged. The company needed to redefine its next-generation supply chain strategies and portfolio.

The Solution

Capgemini worked with the company to realign its desired supply chain capabilities with the strategic needs and direction of its various businesses. Capgemini, through its Accelerated Solutions Environment® methodology (ASE), initially helped define the company’s next-generation supply chain vision and set of key capabilities as well as governance model.

In the next phase, Capgemini worked to further define two key capability areas, E2E Visibility and Sourcing Collaboration, as well as define areas of commonality in terms of process and capabilities. In addition, Capgemini helped to implement a dashboard capability in measuring and managing key supply chain fulfillment metrics.

The Result

The new direction – vision, set of capabilities, and commonality definition – is helping the client achieve a higher degree of cross-functional leverage and energy across its various business units and geographies. The ASE workshop was the first attempt within the company to bring its supply chain leadership from various business divisions and geographies together to develop a common direction. The work in the two capability areas has helped define strategies in these areas as well as rationalize its budget, saving the company millions of dollars.
